There will be a change in management at BMW of North America.
Effective May 1, 2016, Chris Koenders, executive vice president of operations is returning to Germany and will be replaced by Petter Witt. Witt, the regional vice president for the company’s western region, will be responsible for all BMW sales operations in the United States.
Koenders will remain with the BMW Group and will assume the newly created position of head of Project Channel Performance Europe. The position includes handling structure and performance of BMW’s corporate stores in Paris, London, Madrid, Zurich, Vienna, Brussels, Amsterdam, Milan and Rome.
Koenders started with BMW in 1993 as a management associate. From 1993 to 2000 he was involved in product management and marketing in Munich – including heading up the global re-introduction of MINI. He became vice president of BMW Brand Communications in 2006 and, in 2010, he head of the BMW Group in the Netherlands.
Witt was regional sales and marketing manager in the central region (based in Chicago) for BMW of North America in 2006. He became sales director for the importer regions Africa, Caribbean and Eastern Europe in 2010 and became managing director of BMW Sweden in 2013.
