The BMW Performance Center, in conjunction with BMW M Performance Parts and IHG Rewards Club is in the midst of competing in the 2016 One Lap of America competition.
Driving instructor Michael Schnell Renner and United BMW Roswell of Atlanta‘s Stephen Maguire started the race on April 30 in South Bend, Indiana and will take the new M2 across 12 states encompassing 2,827 miles over seven days. Renner won the 2015 One Lap of America Truck/SUV competition and the Stock Touring classes with a BMW X6M.
The 2016 One Lap of America consists of time trials, drag racing, skid pad car control and overnight transit stages.
The BMW M2 has an output of 365 bhp at 6,500rpm and 343 lb-ft of torque (369 lb-ft in overboost mode) on tap between 1,400 and 5,600 rpm and can sprint from 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds. It features lightweight aluminum subframe and suspension components under the widened bodywork as well as an Active M Rear Differential. The M2 also completed one lap of the Nurburgring in 7 minutes, 58 seconds.
