Adrian Lund received the award during a trip to the BMW Group’s Research and Innovation Center in Munich. During a speech, Klaus Kompass, vice president of the BMW Group’s Vehicle Safety Division, said Lund had a “remarkably broad spectrum” of work over the years.
According to a release from BMW “the graduate psychologist occupied himself with the hazards young drivers in particular are faced with as a result of their behavior in road traffic and conducted studies concerning the effects of consuming alcohol and drugs on the ability to drive.”
Lund has worked at the IIHS since 1981 as a researcher and currently as its president.
